Bennu Gerede was born in Istanbul. Speaks English, French and Turkish Fluently. Brought up just in the core of Manhattan,  she obtained a BFA in photography from Parson's School of Art and Design, Paris, speaks three languages french, English, Turkish, and is the mother of four boys. She has been taking photographs since her childhood and begun her professional life doing a internship with Sipa Press Agency in Paris. Her first exhibition was Abidin Dino's portraits in the Gallery Nev, Istanbul. She has worked with several fashion magazines as a fashion and lifestyle photographer, such as Elle, Marie Claire, Harper's Bazaar. Her second solo exhibition was at the Galerist, Istanbul and Paris Nikki Marquardt Gallery- Submission. She has worked for various PR agencies collaborating with firms by doing different exhibitions such as 'Gentleman' for a Raki (an alcoholic beverage) launching, 'Little swimmers' for a Huggie's launching, Cafe Nero's image photographs, Coca Cola’s Hapiness book and exhibition and participated in several social aid projects lastly returning from Timor with Unicef. She has recently finished her project 'Celebration's of Love'- a work that consists of 16 images that recount honor killings; murders of young women by their family or relatives in order to cleanse the honor of their families, just recently exhbited at the Antrepo Sanat Limani and have been exhibited in Bursa, Turkey, Baku, Azerbaijan. Her last solo exhibition- RAW- was at Cagla Cabaoglu gallery, Istanbul where 2 of her works were  auctioned in May at Atrium, Istanbul, and sold. Currently she is participating in  the Istanbul Contemporary Art Fair with with another artist Sevincy. A collaboration- Grace Under Pressure. Bennu Gerede has also played in 2 feature films, one in which she won best actress award in Sochi Russia and Angers France. She has also worked as a VJ for MTV Turkey. She has also collaborated on 2 short experimental films of Hussein Chalayan. Bennu works a lot on social awareness projects using her photography to help children and people in need.
