About Ersin Alok

Ersin Alok was born in 1937, Istanbul, Turkey. He graduated from Istanbul University, School of Arts and Letters, Psychology Department, and from Journalism and Commerce Department of The I.I.T.I Academy. (Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences). He founded the Photography Institute of the Mimar Sinan University. Alok, who started his art career as a painter, held his first exhibition in 1953, at the exhibition hall of the School of Languages, History and Geography of Ankara University.

His relations with nature, mountain climbing and deep sea diving; in a sense "Became his joy of life". Alok, who started alpinism in 1953, has 189 climbs in Turkey. He started deep sea diving in 1955. He has realized deep dives in different parts of the world and taken under water photographs. He is among the first divers to dive into the Red Sea. He has given many lectures on the subject and held exhibitions. His explorations in the Amazons gave his the chance to make photographic studies on the integration of Natural Life and the animal species in the process of extinction in natural life that is being devastated. He made the first studies for a National Park in Turkey, and realized photographic documents on the subject, 1966.

He started his professional career as a photographer in 1967. He won the first prize, with his Absurd in photography, in the 5th Paris Biennial Then first prizes in Rome, Brussels, Sofia, Warsaw and USA Barkley follow In 1989, World Photography Association gave Alok the right to represent Asia, and held his panoramic triangular exhibition with three other artist Alok, who has realized 199 exhibitions, has also had 41 exhibitions abroad He has formed a sound archive with his studies on sound recording. He also founded the first DIABANK in Turkey with his 6,500,000 dia archive. Alok has 21 published books.
His last works "Melting Pot of Civilizations" and "Step by Step Alacahoyuk" are published in 1999.
At present, he is working on four different books. 

Alok has also been working on documentary films. Some of these works, realized on 35/16 mm, are : Zoma I. 1979, Zoma II.1979, Ishakpasa Palace Rock surface drawings, 1973 , bird people in Turkey, 1980, Desert Winds, filmed on the Sahara, 1981 , etc. He has realized 38 documentary films. Rock Surface Drawings, which are Alok's own discovery, are more than 10.000 in number. He has given many lectures on the subject both in Turkey and abroad, and has published two books, one of which is the first book in the world that was published on Psychoanalytic explanations of the drawings. His "Synagogues in Anatolia" is also a first in the world.

Alok has given more than one hundred lectures. To these day, he has realized Anthropologic and prehistoric explorations in every part of the world except New Zealand and the South Pole. He believes that Sharing is the only form of Existentialism. He asserts that Visuality must definitely be shared. Reality, for him is regional. He claims that "In every layer in the world reality itself is the truth for that region". His latest research on "Sharing of Life and Sexus Behaviors" was realized in the Himalayas and Hindu & Buddhist temples.
Alok has made important studies on Industrial Photography. He has produced pamphlets. Posters, Booklets and Fair Displays He is renown for his discoveries on Archaeological and Architectural Photography.
He also has discoveries on color in photography, control of the control intensifying of the blue act.
Alok realized for the first time in Turkey, a one-piece 360 panoramic photograph 1986. 

Alok is, at present, working in his Photography and Film Studio's.
