CANVAS PRINTS
Canvas printing and stretching in Istanbul
Canvas printing shows the work on a woven surface, without glass. At DIFOART the printing, the stretching and the edge wrap are all done in the same studio.
The canvas we use
We print on 100% cotton canvas, 355 g/m², with a matt surface. It carries a traditional canvas weave, and its coating holds high image quality and accurate colour. It contains no PVC, acid or cadmium.
Sizes
Maximum print width is 150 cm gross. Where the print will be stretched, the usable net width is 135 cm — the remainder wraps around the edges of the stretcher. Length is limited by roll size.
Stretcher bars and stretching
Kiln-dried imported pine stretcher bars are used, in two profiles: 2 × 4 cm and 4 × 4 cm. Which one is used depends on the size of the work. Each piece is stretched individually and delivered ready to hang.
Edge treatment
All three options are made: gallery wrap, where the image continues around the edge; mirror edge, where the edge is covered with a mirrored continuation of the image; and solid colour edge. On work that hangs without a frame, the finish of the edge is what shows.
Painting and varnishing
Printing is direct, with no emulsion needed. The print can be painted by hand afterwards. Varnish is offered in matt and gloss, and both are UV-protective.
Turnaround
Printing alone takes 2 working days. Printing and stretching together, for a single piece, take 4 working days. Larger quantities change the schedule; the dates are given when the order is taken.
Framing a canvas
A stretched canvas hangs without glass, but it can also be framed. We make the frame in our own workshop, not through a supplier. A floating frame leaves a visible gap between the frame and the edge of the canvas. Our catalogue holds 58 profiles, and in wide and deep profiles we produce custom sizes and custom colours.
Certificate
A certificate is issued on request: either DIFOART’s own certificate or a Hahnemühle certificate.
